Shrouded Step

EQUIP a shadow walk ability and see its range indicator. FIRE to begin a brief channel, then teleport to the marked location.

Overview

One of the most creative agents in the game, Omen is a pick that opens up a lot of potential for outplays and feints. And with rechargeable smokes and an ability that essentially blinds enemies, he’s an agent who can fill a lot of holes for your team depending on what has or hasn’t been locked.

Role: Controller

Controllers are responsible for putting down smokes.

On defense, they drop smokes on entry angles where the enemy team is approaching from. They can also block enemy vision to create new angles for your team to push out aggressively or to hide in an unexpected angle.

On attack, they drop smokes on key defensive positions where enemies are likely to sit. Their goal is to limit the number of angles an entry player needs to be wary of while entering a site.

Tips and Tricks

  • Shrouded Step [C] is the ability that can create the most trickery for enemy teams -- the most common tactic is to TP across angles to skip past enemy vision, or to TP yourself onto an elevated position that is otherwise unreachable. You can also combine it with Dark Cover [E] to move safely into your own smoke (or to get enemies to think that you did).

  • Shrouded Step [C] can also be used directly where you are standing (or close to it), as the sound queue might cause enemies to think you’ve switched locations. You can also use it and then jump around a corner for a quick peek before TPing back to the designated location.

  • And when combined with Paranoia [Q], you can sometimes teleport directly behind an enemy as they are blinded and unable to hear anything. This can even allow you just jump right into an open space and can be extremely effective at counter fast rushes from enemies.

  • Paranoia [Q] goes through walls and travels a great distance, so it can be comboed with allies who can dashes and can immediately follow up on it.

  • You can set up some one-way peeks with your Dark Cover [E] to deter enemies from pushing an angle (or at least force them to use utility in order to do so).

  • The most common tactic with From the Shadows [X] is to teleport deep into enemy lines (sometimes directly into their spawn) -- this will force them to either check or risk benign flanked by you.

  • From  the Shadows [X] is also sometimes used to secure a spike that’s on the other side of the map -- you can TP directly on top of it and then cancel the ultimate. This is really useful in situations where the spike is lost to your team deep in enemy territory as it allows you to easily rotate.
