Pick Me Up
Overview
Clove is the go-to agent for players who wanted to play duelist but were too late in locking their agent (and they still want to win the game). They’re a controller that rewards you for playing aggressively -- sometimes weaving in and out of your own smokes.
Role: Controller
Controllers are responsible for putting down smokes.
On defense, they drop smokes on entry angles where the enemy team is approaching from. They can also block enemy vision to create new angles for your team to push out aggressively or to hide in an unexpected angle.
On attack, they drop smokes on key defensive positions where enemies are likely to sit. Their goal is to limit the number of angles an entry player needs to be wary of while entering a site.
Tips and Tricks
Being able to control the timing of your own smokes makes it very easy for you to play in them, especially on low-econ rounds where you may buy a shotgun or a similar short ranged weapon. Ruse [E] also recharges over the course of the round, and what makes Clove unique is the ability to smoke while they are dead. This allows you to play aggressively without your team worrying about having no smokes.
The aggressive playstyle is buoyed by Pick Me Up [C], which provides you with a temporary heal and speed boost that allows you to push the issue even further. The speed boost makes it easier to wide swing on opponents to gain a favorable peek as they will not be accustomed to your movement speed.
Clove can combo their Meddle [Q] with any agent that deals damage with their ability to get picks right out of the gate. You can also time it with when you expect enemies to come out from your smoke, and then spray down the choke to secure easy kills.
With your Not Dead Yet [X] up, you can be the entry for your team as you can fish out enemy locations and still bring yourself back to life if you die. You can also use this ability as long as your team has planted the spike, so Clove is an excellent agent in late situations on the attack side.
Note that Clove’s smokes are very short, especially compared to other Controllers, so your team needs to be ready to execute the moment you drop them.
